Conversations

For those who also battle obesity: When you read my posts, I hope you can take away a few things.

First, this all began with three conversations. One was between me and God. The next was between me and myself. The third was between me and a five-year-old girl.

I had to believe God could do the impossible. I’m morbidly obese. I had to trust God would keep that which I’ve committed to Him against that day.- 2 Timothy 1:12

I had to stop talking down to myself. The biggest obstacle to my health were the conversations I had with me. I was terrible to myself. When I had enough, I had to promise myself to stay committed to this for two years. I am not even halfway through that. But I have more faith than before. And I speak more gently with myself than ever before.

I had to have several conversations with a five-year-old girl, my daughter Rhaylee. She’s a hoot. I love being around her. But I was so sick, I was spending less and less time with her. I still struggle. But I’m becoming a better father, slowly, but steadily.

Next. The only right diet is the one that you can stick with and stay healthy on. Do NOT subscribe to my meal plan. Look with curiosity. Do not subscribe to it. Find your own. One you can commit to and keep.

Next. Commit to yourself the following. First, you will write down everything you eat for two years. Second, you will partner with a physician and a dietician. Third, you will take it easy on yourself. Be nice to yourself. Encourage yourself. We all mess up. Our humanity is what unites us. Take it easy on yourself.

Finally, always encourage others, even when they do not agree with you.

Remember. We all have a long way to go. We are not alone.
